Delhi Rape Survivor Reveals Shocking Details About Police Apathy
Delhi rape survivor Ashraya (name changed) speaks to The Probe, exposing shocking police apathy. She claims multiple police stations refused to register her FIR and alleges that Nizamuddin Police asked her to "marry her rapist".
In this interview with The Probe's Suhani Prakash and Aditya Jyoti Borah, the homeless survivor, Ashraya, speaks about how she was raped multiple times by the same man. Despite filing several complaints at multiple police stations in Delhi, no one was willing to register an FIR, citing jurisdictional issues. She also states that the Nizamuddin police caught the rapist and brought him face-to-face with her without registering an FIR. She claims that the police forcibly made a video recording of her, allegedly coercing her to say that the rapist was her husband and that she was going to live with him.
The Delhi rape survivor also states in this interview that she fell at the feet of a woman police officer at the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station, begging her to save her from the perpetrator. She says all her pleas fell on deaf ears.
